A fantastic day of music and dance including Genna - amazing Ethiopian dancers, The Lani Singers from West Papua, St Pauls Reggae orchestra with Dennis Rollins, Zakhele – high energy youth from South Africa, Polish dancing, Iranian and Tibetan music as well as henna, face painting, bouncy castle, mandala making, international games, Art, Drum, Dance and Song workshops, ‘Off The Cuff’ with performances, local musicians, poetry, talks and discussions, Global Village stalls with beautiful handcrafted artefacts, Chilean food, Tibetan tea, Somali Art, information by, for and about Bristol’s refugee and asylum communities and much more besides. A great opportunity to get a global experience without having to travel too far. Everybody is welcome. Come with friends, family and neighbours, meet new people and create happy memories! an interactive game to gain an understanding of fleeing your home, searching for safety and applying for asylum. Exploring the reasons people migrate; refugee and asylum seeker experiences, stories and positive contributions made to the UK. Tracing and messaging games; Refugee Camp mapping activities; Creative spaces where children can express their learning through poems, stories, and art. Positive Images SecondaryAn EU funded project by British Red Cross for 12–25 year olds raising awareness of issues faced by refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants, developing understanding of the links between migration and development. Combating myths; challenging stereotypes; encouraging people to see the positive contributions migrants bring to the UK, their strengths, courage, creativity and resilience. Asylum seeking and refugee students currently attending City Academy will be given a chance to spend fun, quality time with their families as they try their skills at kayaking. For the public at large, free trips on a narrow boat around Bristol’s Floating Harbour. First come, first served, so if you would like a go come and sign in at Young Bristol’s activity centre on the day. FREE
